Daredevil’s origin story
Daredevil first appeared in Marvel Comics in 1964. He starts out as Matt Murdock. He’s from a working class background, raised in Hell’s Kitchen, New York. This particular area of New York was known as a crime riddled, Irish American district. One day poor Matt Murdock pushes a man to safety from the path of an out of control, oncoming truck. Unfortunately Matt gets blinded by some radioactive waste that falls out of the truck.
Conversely his other senses heighten giving him a kind of radar detection ability. His father raises him until he gets murdered by some gangsters. Blind and orphaned Matt meets a blind stranger who tutors him in the martial arts. Things start going better for Matt and he aces law school, and starts a law firm with his friend. However, at night he puts on a devilish red costume and battles with New York criminals.
Daredevil on screen
The Daredevil movie wasn’t super well received. Released in 2003, staring Ben Affleck critics deemed it too much of a cliché and overuse of CGI where it was not needed. This being said, the more recent release of a director’s cut has fared better with fans claiming it is a darker version of spiderman. However, Netflix series “Daredevil” has received good reviews and is a fan favourite.
